I’m finally home :) I must say it feels good. However our flight home was no easy peasy. We actually got delayed! So everything was pretty good on the flight from Rome to Heathrow. As we were passing security to board our next flight, they took away my perfume and facewash :( boo. After that, me and Lola got on the elevator. I was ahead on the escalator and when I nearly reached the top, I heard a thud. There I found Lola on the bottom of the escalator with something red filling up the lines of the escalator. I quickly went down and tried to not freak out. Thank goodness there was this Irish man person who kept Lola’s head up while I kept her feet up on the escalator. We quickly called for help and they found that she got a cut on the back of her head! This was probably the most traumatic thing I’ve ever encountered. I can’t forget the image. Lola keeps saying it’s no big deal but I guess for me it is. Anyway, we got on the ambulance and went to the nearest hospital. The ambulance people were really nice and the doctor was nice and chill. She just glued the cut shut and we were ready to board the next flight. My Lola’s tough. Holler.

After all that, it was smooth sailing. Sorta. Because our flight got delayed, we missed our connecting flight to DC. However British Airways gave us a free night at the Hilton near Logan Airport. It was nice, real nice. We caught our 8am the next day and by 930am we were in DC. Thank God.

This was the roughest flight I’ve ever been through. This trip has been definitely one of a kind. It had it’s peaks and troughs but overall it’s an experience I would never forget. Now that I’m back, let’s hang out so I can tell you more stories rather than just reading about it :)

As they say in Italia, CIAO CIAO!

[11:28] Corinne: why?
[11:29] Me: there was only one toilet and i had to poo
[11:29] Corinne: LOL
[11:29] Me: so people started coming in and out
[11:29] Corinne: hahahaha
[11:29] Me: pooing takes a while
[11:29] Me: so they knew i was pooing when they didn't hear water

To escape the citylife, Lola and I are going to Naples, Capri, and Anacapri on Tuesday. Should be fun. It’s our first official tourgroup thing so we’re definitely gonna be learning something.

Update on Rome:

We haven’t been doing much considering it’s HOT as crap here. Here’s a list of places we’ve been to:

Vatican City - St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Museum

Fountain of Trevi

Spanish Steps

The stores that reminded me of Felice near the Spanish Steps

Some churches where I was informed I can’t wear shorts

Colosseum

Palatino - where we saw the ruins but decided to not go because it was a long ass walk

We plan on going to these places soon:

Piazza Navona

Vittorio Emmanuele II

Pantheon

Piazza Venezia

Some Botanical Garden for Lola [which is SO far and has no metro passing by it -_-

The other three main Basilicas: St. Paul outside the wall, Santa Maria Maggiore, and St. John

I guess it’s a good thing we’re still here for 12 days…

YAY!

YAY!

Me and Lola @ Fontana di Trevi!

Me and Lola @ Fontana di Trevi!

Icecream makes things better…sorta.

Icecream makes things better…sorta.

Some things I noticed about Italy...

Everyone smokes.

Trams are quite popular.

Churches are everywhere and near.

Cleaning people ask for donations after you leave the bathroom.

They charge for plastic bags at the supermarket.

Service charge is a tip to the restaurant so you have to give more to tip just the server.

Drivers here don’t follow the lanes.

All vehicles are small, including trucks.

It rains a lot.

Gelato is everywhere, as much as churches.

Filipinos here are nicer. They say hi to each other even if they don’t know each other.

Lotsa birds.

Grazie is pronounced graht-zeh instead of what I thought was graht-zeeh.

Italians don’t smile much back when you smile at them. Maybe because I’m a stranger haha.

Supermarkets here close early.

Most buildings have flat roofs.

PDA is not frowned upon. They do it on the street, bus stop, metro, on benches, shopping centers, grocery stores, wherever! However, I want to kill all couples who do it.

Italians are proud of their language and will not even try to speak English back to you…well most of them.

Gypsies are scary…and ballsy.

There are no “J”s here. If they need a “J” sound, they replace it with “GG” (i.e. Major = Maggiore or John = Giovanni)

Chinese food in America is better.

that’s all for now. there will be more to come!

So I can say I have a jumping picture at the Vatican hahaha...

So I can say I have a jumping picture at the Vatican hahaha :D

Props to Lola for doing it only once!

Tired.

We walked a hella lot today around St. Peter’s Square and the Vatican Museums. I shall update more tomorrow and possibly upload pics =]. Gnitey for now!

I bought a cellphone!

It was raining earlier but now the sun is shining. I feel like I’ve lost motivation but I guess I just gotta keep on truckin’…

Update on Pisa and Florence:

I went to Pisa with Tita’s friend, Orlan. He’s been before so he went with me to go see it. It was pretty cool. Everything was nearby—duomo, piazza, cathedral, and the tower. We took so many pictures and I tried to go shopping but I just got a shotglass and an apron. After that, we went up the tower. There were so many steps and of course, they were tilted. It definitely tested my fear of heights and claustrophobia but it was all worth it to be up on the top. It was breathtaking—the houses, churchtops, mountains! The breeze was nice too cuz the sun was BEAMING. I am now dark.

When we got back to Florence, we went to Piazza Michelangiolo. It’s basically a place that overlooked the city from the top of a hill. Again, breathtaking. We went there before the sunset. Man, it was really nice to watch. While we were there, someone played techno music, What Is Love, and Hammer Time. I was standing next to some ppl during What Is Love and we started bopping our heads..it was funny. It also showed we were American haha. Anyway, I posted pictures up on facebook so check those out. I don’t think I’ll be able to update as much when I get to Rome because the place we’re staying has limited stuff. I guess we’ll see what happens and where it’ll take me.

T-minus three weeks until I get back…

Sunset in Florence

Sunset in Florence

Torre del Pisa

Torre del Pisa

Milan Pictures!

Milan Pictures!

Firenze!

Today we took a baller train to Florence aka Firenze. We sat near noisy kids who played Bleeding Love but sang it as Breathing Love HAHA. Still can’t speak Italian so basically I look like a deer in the headlights when someone speaks to me. I think I need to change that…haha.

We’re staying with my Tatay’s cousin, Tita Luz. I’ve never seen her before but she is quite cool and loves to feed me. She’s been here for 20 years! Dang. There’s a Filipino organization that she’s part of here too…I’m probably gonna meet more Filipinos than Italians in this trip heh. Oh yea, greatest thing here is THE INTERNET! Weee-ooo! So glad haha. I’ll definitely have better posts and start posting more pics! Anyhow, I’m hooked on TFC’s new drama, My Girl! You guys should check it out =P. I always watch Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus, The Singing Bee, Ligaw ng Bulaklak, Game Ka Na Ba?, and of course, Wowowee. Hep Hooray, Hep Hep, Hooray!

Rambling…

That’s all for now, buh-bye..err..I mean, CIAO!
