Some things I noticed about Italy...

  1. Everyone smokes.
  2. Trams are quite popular.
  3. Churches are everywhere and near.
  4. Cleaning people ask for donations after you leave the bathroom.
  5. They charge for plastic bags at the supermarket.
  6. Service charge is a tip to the restaurant so you have to give more to tip just the server.
  7. Drivers here don’t follow the lanes.
  8. All vehicles are small, including trucks.
  9. It rains a lot.
  10. Gelato is everywhere, as much as churches.
  11. Filipinos here are nicer. They say hi to each other even if they don’t know each other.
  12. Lotsa birds.
  13. Grazie is pronounced graht-zeh instead of what I thought was graht-zeeh.
  14. Italians don’t smile much back when you smile at them. Maybe because I’m a stranger haha.
  15. Supermarkets here close early.
  16. Most buildings have flat roofs.
  17. PDA is not frowned upon.  They do it on the street, bus stop, metro, on benches, shopping centers, grocery stores, wherever!  However, I want to kill all couples who do it.
  18. Italians are proud of their language and will not even try to speak English back to you…well most of them.
  19. Gypsies are scary…and ballsy.
  20. There are no “J”s here.  If they need a “J” sound, they replace it with “GG” (i.e. Major = Maggiore or John = Giovanni)
  21. Chinese food in America is better.
that’s all for now. there will be more to come!

Rain/Shine?

So, it’s Friday the 13th, 115pm. It was raining earlier but now the sun is shining. I feel like I’ve lost motivation but I guess I just gotta keep on truckin’…

Update on Pisa and Florence:

I went to Pisa with Tita’s friend, Orlan. He’s been before so he went with me to go see it. It was pretty cool. Everything was nearby—duomo, piazza, cathedral, and the tower. We took so many pictures and I tried to go shopping but I just got a shotglass and an apron. After that, we went up the tower. There were so many steps and of course, they were tilted. It definitely tested my fear of heights and claustrophobia but it was all worth it to be up on the top. It was breathtaking—the houses, churchtops, mountains! The breeze was nice too cuz the sun was BEAMING. I am now dark.

When we got back to Florence, we went to Piazza Michelangiolo. It’s basically a place that overlooked the city from the top of a hill. Again, breathtaking. We went there before the sunset. Man, it was really nice to watch. While we were there, someone played techno music, What Is Love, and Hammer Time. I was standing next to some ppl during What Is Love and we started bopping our heads..it was funny. It also showed we were American haha. Anyway, I posted pictures up on facebook so check those out. I don’t think I’ll be able to update as much when I get to Rome because the place we’re staying has limited stuff. I guess we’ll see what happens and where it’ll take me.

T-minus three weeks until I get back…

Firenze!

Today we took a baller train to Florence aka Firenze.  We sat near noisy kids who played Bleeding Love but sang it as Breathing Love HAHA.  Still can’t speak Italian so basically I look like a deer in the headlights when someone speaks to me.  I think I need to change that…haha.

We’re staying with my Tatay’s cousin, Tita Luz.  I’ve never seen her before but she is quite cool and loves to feed me.  She’s been here for 20 years!  Dang.  There’s a Filipino organization that she’s part of here too…I’m probably gonna meet more Filipinos than Italians in this trip heh.  Oh yea, greatest thing here is THE INTERNET!  Weee-ooo!  So glad haha.  I’ll definitely have better posts and start posting more pics!  Anyhow, I’m hooked on TFC’s new drama, My Girl!  You guys should check it out =P.  I always watch Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus, The Singing Bee, Ligaw ng Bulaklak, Game Ka Na Ba?, and of course, Wowowee.  Hep Hooray, Hep Hep, Hooray!

Rambling…

That’s all for now, buh-bye..err..I mean, CIAO!
